COMPASSION Sitting at home, watching the news, Reporting the conflict of Arabs and Jews History, hatred , fighting and pain, I feel like I'm going insane. Yet from my window ,beauty I see, Mountains and valleys , the Galilee My mind wanders in a peaceful dream, Broken again by a shattering scream. Weary, yet driven , I search from within For the solution-the answer - one of , win-win. There must be a way to make both sides see, A compromise that will set us free, Of this vicious circle of bloodshed and gore of loss of life and much, much more. Though I'm lost , afraid and all is unclear My hope for peace, overrules my fear, Compassion and tolerance are my guide A love of humanity is on my side. There was no evil as there is today. We could play freely till late There was no evil In the hearts of men. We could trust In any man No matter... His religion, his colour Or even his name. Such things weren't important 'Cause we were... INNOCENT. We knew the Good Guy, Would defeat the Bad. We learnt the difference Between hatred and LOVE. Some of us were lucky, In a PEACEFUL LAND. While others suffered badly, Under the boots of wrath. But we were HAPPY, 'Cause there was LOVE And though everything crumbled around us. We still had HOPE, We still saw the LIGHT. Daniel Dorfman. Ein Ganin, 6th Grade Israel It has been said that Israel is one of the most unique countries in the world. Israel’s population consists of different cultures and people from all over the world. There for the population includes Russians, Iraqis, Ashkenazim and Sepharadim. But what the majority has in common, which makes Israel so very unique, is that more than 80% of its population is Jewish. Israel is the only country in the world that has a majority of Jews. Each year, thousands of immigrants pass the border to every Jew’s dreamland, the famous Israel, and settle in it. If you ask anyone in Tel-Aviv, what his country’s official type of food is, they will unrepentantly reply: “Falafel and Humus.” People from all over the world come to Israel to taste the famous Falafel. Israel didn’t receive its independence from anyone, she had to fight for it like many other countries. Each year we commemorate Memorial Day, which is a very sad day. In contrast to other countries, where soldier rarely die, Israel’s Independence Day reminds its citizens of the huge number of deaths in Israel as a result of war. Sadly soldiers are still in constant danger, and not one day goes by without a soldier getting injured. Although Israel has achieved peace with 2 Arab countries that surround her, it still has a long way to go, before people in Israel are able to live a calm and peaceful life. Another big problem in Israel exists: the animosity between secular Jews and the Orthodox Jews. The secular Jews claim that the Orthodox force them to live a life theirs, which includes no activities at Friday evenings and Saturdays, eating Kosher and closing movie theaters. The Orthodox Jews, come to a neighborhood where the majority of the people are secular, and buy an apartment in a building. Then another family comes to live in that building, and therefore more families join that building, then street, and demand to close it on Saturdays, claiming it bothers them and dishonors them. The secular Jews despise their actions, and dislike their control over their lives. Although Israel has many problems, it is still one of a kind. Israel is a leader in technology, agriculture, medicine and education. It is a young and dynamic country with much to offer and hopefully it will know peace in the future. That is our dream. Segev R. and David K. 6th grade, Ein Ganim School Israel We wanted to write about the space shuttle "Columbia" that crashed: Segev: I am so sorry for the families of the dead astronauts from the "Columbia" space shuttle. I would want Colonel Ilan Ramon, the first Israeli astronaut, to be back on earth and Israel and tell his stories and enjoyments. I think Ilan's sacrifice wasn't in vain - he opened a way to other israeli people and future astronauts into the world of science and space. I think Ilan Ramon was a great man, husband, child, soldier and astronaut. His army career aided him in his journey. David: I am very sorry for the asronauts's families about the dead astronauts that died on the space shuttle "Columbia". I am especially sorry for the death of Colonel Ilan Ramon that represented the country as the first Israeli astronaut in the space. I am very happy he said israeli prayers and ate kosher food, even though he is not a religious man. I think that Ilan Ramon opened a gate of hope for future Israeli astronauts and encouraged them to be israeli astronauts. I think Ilan Ramon represented Israel the best way someone ever could. Afik Ein Ganim Israel This tragedy of the Colombia will never be forgotten. Also 17 years ago the space shuttle, Challenger, was the first space shuttle with a teacher! But when the space shuttle was already in the air, after something like 30 seconds when they started to fly thegas tank exploded and the all of the shuttle, of course exploded. The challenger shuttle had the first teacher in a shuttle but they wanted it to be in space, and the Colombia shuttle had the first astronout from Israel. But before they landed on earth the left wing had a problem and the space shuttle was broken to pieces. It was a very sad moment, for us and the all of the world. The astronouts knew that the mission had risks , but the feeling to be in space, made the risks meaningless to the astronouts. Nasa should be more careful if they want to save the lives of their astronauts. Hi, my name is Nofar and I study in the 6th grade in Ein-Ganim Elemenary School. I live in Peach-Tikva, Israel. There are many holidays for the Jews, one of them is Purim, Purim is our next holiday, Purim is the most festive of Jewish holidays. I like Purim, I think it a special and very fun holiday! Purim is like Halloween, at Purim we dress up in costumes, last year I dressed up to a gift, I made this cotume with my mother, I think the best part in Purim is to make the costumes alone and not to buy them. On Purim we eat things called "Haman's ears", Haman was the name of one of the persons in the story of Purim, he was the bad man of the story and the villain because he wanted to kill the Jews. These are Haman's ears: On Purim we play with noise makers, this is a noisemaker: http://www.holidays.net/purim/images/gragger4.gif The symbol of Purim is a clown. Good-bye and Happy Purim! Purim Purim is a beautiful Jewish holiday. Purim is a children's holiday,. On Purim we wear costumes, masks of something or someone that we admire or do not like. Purim’s story is in Esther (book of the Bible). The story happened many years ago in Persia. It’s about a queen that was Jewish and a very beautiful woman. No one knew that she was Jewish, even the king named Ahashverosh. That story had very happy end for the Jewish people in Persia. On Purim, we eat special food. We eat “The ears of the ‘Evil Haman’”. When the name of Haman is called in the synagogue, everyone there makes noise with the noisemakers. We give and receive little gifs and presents with our friends. Every kid in Israel likes the Purim holiday. In the schools in Israel, we celebrate the holiday, one day before Purim. On Purim we don’t study at school, and there is a vacation. These are Haman's ears (the ears of the “Evil Haman”): We eat the ears to remember that the king hung him by his His ears in the highest tree in the land! This is a noisemaker: Happy Purim!Or D. Purim is a holiday that Jewish people celebrate. It was many years ago… The story of Purim tells the story of Queen Esther, King Ahasuerus, Esther's uncle (or cousin) Mordechai, and the king's chief advisor Haman. Ahasuerus was the king of Persia. He wanted to have a feast. It was the seventh day of the feast when the king called to his queen, Vashti. Vashti didn't want to come this feast. She refused. The king (Ahasuerus) was very angry. Ahasuerus talked with his officers and asked them for a proper punishment. One of them suggested that Vashti should be killed. The king thought it was as a good punishment and Vashti was killed. The time passed and the king wanted a new queen. His officers called all the girls in the country to come to his palace. The king chose Ester. She was a Jewish girl that her uncle, Mordechai, raised because of her parent's death. When she came to the palace she didn't tell anyone that she was a Jewish girl. The king loved her because she was extremely beautiful and she was the queen. Years passed and the king decided to choose Haman to be his prime minister. Haman was very vain. He thought that everyone needed to bow to him. Mordechai didn't bow him because the Jewish religion did not allow that. It was a sin. Haman was very angry and decided to cast a Pur to determine the day of annihilation of all the Jews. (Pur-Purim). Haman went to the king and slandered the Jews. Haman convinced the king to go forth with his plans. Mordechai heard about it and tore his clothes. He went into the streets and cried. Some people told Esther about her uncle and she talked with him. He told her what happened and asked her for a favor. Mordechai asked her if she could ask the king to help on her behalf and Esther agreed. Meanwhile, Mordechai and some people fasted for three days for her safety. After the fast, Esther went to the king's chambers and asked him for a feast in honor of her and Haman. The king agreed. She asked them for another feast on the next night. Haman left the feast feeling proud and happy, but when he noticed and saw that Mordechai didn't bow to him he was very angry. He asked his wife, Zeresh to advise him and she said that he needed to build gallows. Haman was very joyful and happy. On that night, the king discovered that Mordechai saved him from the assassination plot of two slaves. He asked Haman for a gift for somebody that the king wished to reward. Haman thought that the king's intentions were for him and said: "The honoree should be dressed in royal clothing, ride upon a royal horse. And be led through the city streets by an official proclaiming "This is what is done to the man the King wishes to honor and desire". The king agreed and asked Haman to lead the horse for Mordechai. Haman did it and was very sad. During the second banquet, Esther told the king about all of Haman's plots and she also told the king the she was Jewish. The king decided that Haman would be hung on the gallows instead of Mordechai. And that was the end of the story. Ever since, the Jews celebrate this and the day before Purim is a day of fasting, in memory of Mordechai's fast. On Purim we are merry and gay. Children wear costumes and have parties. We are happy and have fun. Happy Purim. Nitzan, Marsha and the 6th grade at Ein Ganim Israel
Welcome to my world i'm nobodys fool and I live in nobodys home. And i'm anything but ordinary. Sometimes I feel unwanted. Sometimes I feel complicated, and I just want to freak out. Sometimes I feel naked, and it feels like i'm falling to pieces. There were things i'll never say when we were together. He wasn't the skater boy I wanted. I feel lost and forgotten. Who knows when i'll start losing grib and go mobile. You can take me away, but don't tell me that he slipped away. That wont be my happy ending. I remember it clearly when he said " I'm with you " and I always asked " How does it feel ? " But you would never listen to me. I just want to be loved, is that to much to ask for ?. |
